Baja Bound 2023 (Part 11)

By Simon J. Lau

Today, I took portraits and photos for my friends at Nomadico. They recently opened, and I thought they’d appreciate pictures of the team when they first started. Included are Delmar, Laura, and Daniella.

Joel (far right), the Frenchman and regular Nomadico patron, had a particularly interesting history. He’s originally from the mountain region in France, moved to the US, but has been visiting Baja since the 70s. He’s also a trained chef. I spent the morning learning about his history and his time on this peninsula. He had a ton of wonderful stories and was genuinely great company.

When I leave tomorrow, I’m going to miss this place completely. This is what I woke up to and what I enjoyed during my morning brew. Life can’t get any better than this.

Finally, I can’t end this thread without a photo of my favorite camp dog, Trixie, and a picture of dinner. Trixie followed me to this restaurant (known for their chicken) and to the playa. It’s become a tradition for us. What a wonderful dog (and a delicious meal 🥘).
