Baja Bound 2023 (Part 18)

By Simon J. Lau

Today, I departed from Cataviña. This ride proved to be one of my favorites in a while. The area boasts stunning desert scenery, and unlike previous legs of my journey, there was very little wind today. This allowed me to leisurely take in the views and truly enjoy the landscapes.

Three hours later, I arrived in San Quintín. The pier here has a statue reminiscent of Jaws, which I found absolutely hilarious (and which Jean found frightening). The hotel, Old Mill, is also much more charming than the other hotel I stayed in during my previous visit to San Quintín.

As with last time, I’m just passing through San Quintín. But something tells me that I’m missing out on the sport fishing. 🎣🐟 I’m taking a mental note so that next time I visit, I can go sport fishing with friends. If not here, at least somewhere in Baja!

However, I did the next best thing, and I had fish tacos. Specifically, I had three fish tacos (out of five) at this roadside restaurant. 🌮🌮🌮🌮🌮 (This was my second order.) Also, notice the angry Trump straw in the lemonade.

Needless to say, the fish tacos here were excellent!

Finally, my route from Cataviña to San Quintín (185 km or 115 miles).
