Baja Bound 2023 (Part 20)

By Simon J. Lau

This morning, I took it easy. I had coffee and churros for breakfast (that’s 4 churros when I only expected 1 😳), and I was up early enough to have this whole space to myself. Afterward, I had my laundry done before heading home. I hate doing laundry.

In the afternoon, I went back to my favorite oyster spot. The pork rinds taco and roasted oysters with cheese were the best things on the menu. 🌮🦪 However, today’s oysters were tiny compared to yesterday’s! Oh well, but still delicious. 🤤

In the evening, I walked along the main thoroughfare. I’ll have to admit, now that I’m older, I’m far less interested in these party cities. Ensenada, for instance, feels like a large Fisherman’s Wharf. There are a lot of tourist attractions, but very little interesting local flair.

As a final farewell, I dropped by a cafe to people watch. 🍵 Weirdly, I think now is the slow season. Very few people are out in the evenings. I guess I should consider myself lucky?

Tomorrow, I’m off to Tecate! This will be my final stop before crossing the border.
